For the most recent full moon a number of friends and I got together and went far from the city and into the Santa Cruz mountains. Although our intentions for being there varied, a common thread was our desire to be together in a more wild place and to share the experience of the full moon rising as the sun set. We also shared some food and talk and songs, and as the moon rose and night grew chillier we also huddled together for warmth and the comfort of friends being close to friends.
What does this have to do with anarchy and SubRosa? I strive to live out my anarchist principles in some of the ways we were on that rocky mountain, to have a direct and meaningful relationship with the world (especially wild places) and people around me, and to do that with with an awareness and respect for my connection to and place within larger cycles, like that of the moon phases and changing of the seasons and so on. Another world is possible, and we can create it bit by bit every day. At times, my/our actions must also involve struggle against this lifeless-culture to make this revolution-in-the-moment even more manifest and to protect what we value and love. I hope that SubRosa can be a piece of that possibility and a place for us to mutually support each other, as we did on that windy and chilly mountain top while we bathed in the full moon's light. -nibbles

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
