And here's a sample of the latest...

***Help us get mobile! From the fundraiser for folk in Santa Cruz (https://www.gofundme.com/f/y83z3-help-us-get-mobile): "Hello everyone my name is Daniel and that's my mother Lavetta in the wheelchair. She is a double amputee and unfortunately lost both of her legs due to medical complications. I have been by her side faithfully taking care of her since this all started a little over 8 years ago. GOD has been so good to us and finally blessed us with a place to call home after over 5 years of struggling to become stable. Now that we can check that off of the list our next goal is to purchase a vehicle to provide a steady form of transportation. Recently we fell into a bit of financial hardship and that's why i am asking you for help. My goal is to raise enough to put a downpayment on a nice Van/SUV that can fit me, my mother and her wheelchair comfortably. Anything and everything helps! Thank you for your time and may GOD bless you and yours."

Juristac, otherwise known as Sargent Ranch, is the cultural and spiritual center of Amah Mutsun territory and also serves as an essential migration corridor for mountain lions, badgers, and other wildlife. In Northern California near Mt. Shasta, the Pit River Tribe has led a successful decades-long fight—alongside other allied tribes and environmental organizations—to protect the sacred Medicine Lake Highlands from proposed geothermal industrial development.  Join us at this online event to get your questions answered and find out how you can take action to protect Juristac! (much more info at post).

And there's a lot of Instagram accounts that SubRosa follows for a variety of information/ perspectives, both locally and elsewhere!  Some of these are...

And there is a long overdue reckoning and ongoing engagement regarding race and racism in this country and here in Santa Cruz (and as Fábrica banner reads - Black Liberation Everywhere) - and not to take attention away from this, there's also attention to the continued harassment of houseless folk in Santa Cruz (and not unrelated).  Efforts to defund the police are also taking place.  While the global pandemic continues, there's also transformative possibilities emerging.

And a part of this can be hard and healing... at https://www.instagram.com/lured_by_burger_records/ - "LURED BY BURGER RECORDS // HEAVY TW: Stories of sexual abuse and pedophilia. Amplifying voices and supporting victims of sexual predation by those involved with Burger Records. https://linktr.ee/lbbr_resources " - and it's also important for DIY spaces like SubRosa to continue to be a "safer space" (when we do have gatherings again) and to also help spread the word about the experiences and needs of people who are harmed by predatory behaviors of others (and often "men") - and like other challenges to extreme harm and violence done it's worth examining how this is also systemic... and to work together to uproot that and to take care of each other. More to come...

SubRosa is a collectively run anarchist community space, a place to meet others and challenge our assumptions and act on our passions. We strive to create a vibrant environment for events, classes, meetings, organizing, performance, art, studying and more. SubRosa also offers radical literature for sale, and houses the Anarchist Lending Library. We welcome folks to join us in fostering an environment free from coercion, sexism, queer&homophobia, racism, ableism and other hierarchies.

SubRosa is part of the Hub Community Center, in downtown Santa Cruz, CA which is the unceded territory of the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, comprised of the descendants of indigenous people taken to missions Santa Cruz and San Juan Bautista during Spanish colonization of the Central Coast, is today working hard to restore traditional stewardship practices on these lands and heal from historical trauma.

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
