Sunday: Really Really Free Market // Thursday: WTF Bike Ride with Bike Church // fundraiser info for Ernestina // Also Sunday: Rasquache Procession (Protest) at MAH & more!!!

---Sunday! May 9th! 11 - 2pm - Really Really Free Market! No money. No trades. Everything is free. With pandemic protocols- let's share community care! Wear a mask. Give each other space.  https://www.instagram.com/p/COZenZ3hDl8/ and https://www.facebook.com/events/819321745674265

We all have something to share with each other... and to receive with gratitude is also a gift. This gathering is not about the "stuff" we give and take, but more about how we can freely give and receive from each other. This market is based on a gift-economy... capitalism NO! But come to the really really free market to give away your old stuff and/or get new-to-you stuff. Bring your special items that you don't use but can't throw away (ex. clothes, toys, art supplies, instruments, books and zines...your free box). Come and take what you can use and say thanks!

We will have folks to check in with as you arrive. First come first served, space may be limited. Don't be late and be sure to check in with the organizers when you get there. If you bring things, you are expected to take away whatever is left at the end of the market.

¡Todo gratis! No intercambio de dinero, no negocios, no trueques. ¡¡¡Mercado libre completamente gratis!!!

---Bike Church is hosting a WTF group ride on May 6 at 4pm.  https://www.instagram.com/p/COGJrXQBRWl/ and https://www.facebook.com/events/163487905691397

WTF means women, trans*, femme and this ride is for everyone who identifies as such or as non-binary, genderqueer, etc. Basically all y'all who aren't cis-men and who are so often decentered in mechanic and cyclist worlds. The ride will be on roads, and 10 miles or less round trip.

Before the ride, 1 - 3pm, WTF mechanics will be at the shop to help you fix or tune up your bike for the ride.  If you have any questions feel free to reach out.

---Support Fundraiser for new custom accessible van for Ernestina Saldana. https://www.gofundme.com/f/4yzvk-new-custom-accessible-van-for-ernestina-saldana

"Dear friends, last year I reached out for your generosity, hoping to replace my wheelchair accessible van after the ramp function failed. Unfortunately, COVID arrived and brought a lot of need to our community. I am reaching out once again - although we were able to raise a lot last year, it is not enough to place a downpayment on an accessible vehicle - instead, as a recipient of benefits, it is jeopardizing my housing and medical. I hope that in this second push, we can raise the full amount for a downpayment - anything you can donate would be very much appreciated. Please share this link to donate: https://gofund.me/67998c67" - and link in link tree https://www.instagram.com/ernestina.saldana.3/ & https://www.instagram.com/subrosa_sc/

---And also on Sunday, May 9th, 2 - 5pm: Rasquache Procession (Protest) - Join Beyond the World's End exhibiting artists and Rasquache Collective members Ann Altstatt and Kyle Lane-McKinley (also of the Hub!) for a socially distanced procession of kites.- Meet at the Front Street Entrance of the MAH - 705 Front Street, Santa Cruz, CA - https://www.santacruzmah.org/events/rasquache-procession/2021/05/09

Together we will carry their installation BordersBordados: A Rasquache Time Machine from the MAH out to Cowell's beach for an afternoon of camaraderie and kite-flying in creative protest to repressive border policies. This program will begin outside the MAH at our Front Street Entrance and continue along the riverfront path to the beach. Grab your kite and join us!

"When we create and learn together we are participating in cultural sustainability and resiliency. We are not surviving, we are thriving." - Rasquache Collective

SubRosa is a collectively run anarchist community space, a place to meet others and challenge our assumptions and act on our passions. We strive to create a vibrant environment for events, classes, meetings, organizing, performance, art, studying and more. SubRosa also offers radical literature for sale, and houses the Anarchist Lending Library. We welcome folks to join us in fostering an environment free from coercion, sexism, queer&homophobia, racism, ableism and other hierarchies.

SubRosa is part of the Hub Community Center, in downtown Santa Cruz, CA which is the unceded territory of the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, comprised of the descendants of indigenous people taken to missions Santa Cruz and San Juan Bautista during Spanish colonization of the Central Coast, is today working hard to restore traditional stewardship practices on these lands and heal from historical trauma.

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
