-Rally for Juristac - from FB event post - https://fb.me/e/1TqVvkpl9 "STAND WITH US — The sacred ceremonial heartland of the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band near Gilroy, CA is threatened by a proposed 403-acre sand and gravel mining operation. 

Santa Clara County has released an environmental analysis of the project and soon will decide whether to approve or deny permits for the mine. If built, this project would devastate pristine grasslands and woodlands, impair a critical wildlife movement corridor, and desecrate Amah Mutsun (Ohlone) sacred sites.

Join us in front of the Santa Clara County building on Sept. 10, 1-4pm to stand together for the land, for cultural survival, and to show the strength of our collective determination to protect Juristac!

-Square Dance Benefit - all proceeds going to Plan C (an org fighting for reproductive rights) - Saturday September 10th, 7-10pm at the Bike Church (703 Pacific Ave) - $10-$15 notaflof - square dance & calls by Nina Berry / 2 step by Malibu Bar-Babe / there will also be food and some vending in the SubRosa courtyard. -Practicing Abolitionist Principles in daily life & Lgbtqi+ Inmate snail mail workshops – (note: NOT AT Hub/SubRosa! See info below for location!) September 11th / 1 – 4:30 p.m. with Stephanie/Burrito (Little.Burrito@yahoo.com) / Location: The Slough Brewing Collective, 65 Hangar Way, Watsonville, CA / Description: These courses will be open conversations about the ways we can reach out and advocate for LGBTQI+ Inmates, sharing statistics, the cycles of entering incarceration and the prison system, and how we can shift our way of engaging with others around us, approach and resolve conflicts in ways that no longer adhere to structures of the carceral state (cancel culture, detention, time out, silent treatment, "ghosting" etc). The classes include art as a healing form and we will be making letters, photography, postcards and other pieces of snail mail to send to LGBTQI+ Prisoners! / Donations are always welcome to help fund the postcards and materials! If people are interested in directly sending funds to inmate commissary we will have a qr code that leads to that. (An offering in the Free Skool Santa Cruz 2022 summer session).

SubRosa is part of the Hub Community Center, in downtown Santa Cruz, CA which is the unceded territory of the Awaswas-speaking Uypi Tribe. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band, comprised of the descendants of indigenous people taken to missions Santa Cruz and San Juan Bautista during Spanish colonization of the Central Coast, is today working hard to restore traditional stewardship practices on these lands and heal from historical trauma.
