-Sunday, August 13th - Tianguis Realmente
Gratuito. Todo es gratis. Really Really Free Market - 11am-2pm. No money. No trades. Everything is free.

Please wear a mask for community care.

This gathering is not about the "stuff" we give and take, but more about how we can freely give and receive from each other. This is a form of anti-capitalist mutual aid where everyone is invited to participate and share care.

¡Todo gratis! No intercambio de dinero, no negocios, no trueques. Trae lo que gustes, toma lo que necesites. Este mercado gratuito es basado en una economía de regalar.

-In the evening! Another show!

Come check it out (and bring ear plugs!)

-Monday, August 14th - The Participation of Women in Global Revolutionary Struggle, 6–7:30pm (part of the summer session of Free Skool Santa Cruz)

"In this collective course I would like for us to think about how women in liberation movements, such as the Zapatista, Kurdish, Palestinian, and Black Panther Party, have opened up space for women to form connections with one another while challenging both external and internal patriarchal gender dynamics. We will focus on reading mainly auto-biographical accounts from women in each movement as we think about what we can learn from each movement, and how it relates to us as we work towards making revolutionary alternatives and combating patriarchy." With Ariella Patchen (ap73999@gmail.com)

-Tuesday, August 15th - Horror, Feminism, Anti-Capitalism in the film "It Follows", 5:30–8pm (part of the summer session of Free Skool Santa Cruz)

Description: We'll watch "It Follows" to explore feminist and anti-capitalist themes. We'll discuss how horror films help us understand transformations in how heteropatriarchal capitalism works and how we can fight back. with Johanna Isaacson (johannais68@gmail.com)

Other Free Skool Santa Cruz classes

(Not at SubRosa)

Sunday, August 13th - Nature Somatics,  5–7pm (part of the summer session of Free Skool Santa Cruz)

It will be at UCSC North Remote Parking (aka N. Perimeter Lot). If you have specific access needs it's not too late to let me know and I'll try to accommodate.

We'll do some deep relational sensing, some tracking and identifying (meeting some beings) some group movement on the land with somatic sensing (deep body relating). And stuff like that.

Bring snacks, sunblock, tick protection, water, a notebook and pencil could be good too.

-And check out Fábrica Open Hours, Mondays, 1 - 4pm and Saturdays, 2 - 5pm // repeats weekly (part of the summer session of Free Skool Santa Cruz - and an ongoing project)

Description: The Fábrica is a community workspace where folks can come to learn and share knowledge about textiles arts. This includes Sewing, Knitting, Quilting, Embroidery, Crochet, and Bookbinding, among other arts. The workshop is operated by volunteers and funded by donations from participants. We have sewing machines as well as generous amounts of fabric, zippers, notions, and the other tools and supplies one needs for most sewing and yarn-based projects. There is no charge to use the shop, but please consider a $5-10 donation to help with our operating costs.

-And SubRosa's neighbor at the Hub - Bike Church // Open Hours, Thursday -Monday, 12–5pm (Repeats every week)

The Bike Church, 703 Pacific Ave, Santa Cruz (at the Hub Community Center). About our wonderful neighbor, The Bike Church (enter on Spruce St) - "The Bike Church is a project of the Hub for Sustainable Living and has been Santa Cruz's only community bike shop since 1998. Our shop functions in a DIY/DIT (Do-It-Together) manner: we provide the tools, space and instruction for individuals to fix their own bike with the guidance of knowledgeable mechanics.

We ask for a donation of $5-15 per hour to use the shop--no one is turned away for lack of funds. We provide used and new parts for affordable prices, and have many used bikes for sale. We give away kids bikes for free. Our shop is run by a collective of mechanics and apprentices who are all paid equally. We use consensus meetings to make decisions about the running of the shop." http://bikechurch.santacruzhub.org // https://www.facebook.com/thebikechurch/ // https://www.instagram.com/thebikechurch/

Comments on the SubRosa website are fully moderated. As a collective, we agreed that the purpose of the website was to promote SubRosa, not to provide an online place for lively and invigorating debate. We hope that the space itself is where conversations on the nature of anarchism and local projects will take place. That said, we occasionally approve comments that are informative or reflect a viewpoint we feel it is important for website visitors to read.
